Hi friends! Today I wanted to dive into the topic of kindness! I am so happy you are here and I hope this brings some light to your life - let’s get into it!
Alright so to point out the elephant in the room, the title of this organization includes the word “kindness”. I figured it would be a good way to start out the year by going through the meaning behind the name of Kindness Hope and Love. To start off with the first word, let's dive into what kindness actually means and where it is in our world today! According to dictionary.com kindness is defined as, “the state or quality of being kind”. The base word, kind, means of a good or benevolent nature or disposition, as a person. Basically, being a good human, helping out where you can and positively influencing someone else’s day. Kindness is easily spread and can have a long lasting influence on someone else. One simple act could turn into something more than just holding the door open for a stranger.
There’s a saying, “what goes around comes around” and if in fact we are kind, others will too be kind to us. It seems as though there is a lack of kindness in our world today. From the news to social media it appears as though people are angry, sad, getting hurt, and full of hatred. You have to truly dig to find the content that shows kindness in our world. Now, I know it is important to pay attention to the things going on in the world and a majority of what the news puts out there is negative as a way to attract viewers. However, there is a lot of news that is positive and should be paid attention to just as much. Maybe it is those simple acts of kindness like holding a door for the next person, donating to a charity or having a needed conversation with a friend. Whatever it is, kindness and quote on quote good deeds are there, we just need to look for them - and share them!
Kindness is quite frankly all around our world today. It may be hard to see but little things can remind us that there still is kindness. For me personally, it brightens my day when I see those signs that simply say, “be kind”. It’s just a little reminder to be that kind person, you never know who you may influence. I pray that in the midst of whatever you are doing, that you may be the one to start or continue the chain of kind acts - who knows how big they’ll become!
When naming this account I found that there were many ways to go. Initially I named it “spread love” as a way to spread the love of God and homelessness awareness. Yet I felt that it needed something more. God has so many gifts that He gives to us and yes while He is loving, He is also kind and gives us much hope. With that said, it made sense to tie them all together! Through kindness and love I pray that this organization gives those in homelessness the hope to move forward with God. Kindness, hope and love are so infectious and it is amazing to see how God’s hand has already moved in this organization so far. If you found this blog to be encouraging and motivational please do share with a friend!
